COVID-19 Panel: Surviving the Pandemic – Patient, Family, and Physician Perspectives 



Susan R. Wilcox, MD, attended medical school at Washington University School of Medicine and trained in Emergency Medicine in the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency, graduating in 2008. After residency, she completed an Anesthesia Critical Care fellowship at MGH.  Staying on as faculty at MGH in 2009, she divided her time between the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Units, and she attended in the multidisciplinary Intensive Care Unit at North Shore Hospital.  She also represented MGH as an Associate Medical Director at Boston MedFlight from 2009 to 2015. In July 2017, she became the inaugural Chief of the Division of Critical Care in the Department of Emergency Medicine, and in 2021 she was named the Vice-Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Emergency Medicine. In addition to  attending in the Emergency Department, in November 2018, she was appointed as the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Boston MedFlight. Her academic work focuses on improving the care of the critically ill patient in transport and in the ED as well as medical education at the intersection of emergency medicine and critical care. She is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
