What will "One Scientific Assembly. Two Experiences." look like?

We have developed a robust in-person and virtual conference that will offer live streaming of eight plenary, one keynote, 55 concurrent, and 53 breve dulce talks and four competitions from June 20-24, 2021. Click here for more information.

When will sessions take place?

The in-person and virtual sessions will be held on June 20-24, 2021. Times listed in the agenda are in US Central Time. Times are subject to change.

How can I access the virtual content?

Prior to the start of the virtual Scientific Assembly, registered participants will receive detailed information on how to log in.

What are the technical requirements for the virtual experience (i.e., is there a preferred browser)?

Chrome is the preferred browser, yet any browser will work. Registrants will need a computer or tablet, an internet connection, and audio (a functioning sound card with either built-in or external speakers). A video camera is not necessary.

I want to watch a session, but have a conflict for the time it is scheduled. Can I watch it later?

Yes! Plenary, keynote, and concurrent educational activities will be recorded for future playback. Recordings will be available to conference attendees for on demand viewing on the mobile app and archived on AAEM Online after the conference.

How soon after the end of the conference will I be able to access recorded sessions?

Online access to the AAEM21 Annual Scientific Assembly content will be available on AAEM Online after the conference and eligible to claim CME for three years.

How do I register?

There are two ways to register for the Scientific Assembly:

1. Online: Click here for online registration.

2. By Phone: Call the AAEM offices at 1-800-884-2236 and ask for Scientific Assembly Registration.

Do I still need to register if I am a member?

Yes, in order to attend in-person or access the virtual Scientific Assembly, members must register and pay a refundable deposit. At the conclusion of AAEM21, members have the option to donate their refundable deposit to the Kevin G. Rodgers Fund of LEAD-EM, the AAEM Foundation, the AAEM PAC, or have the full amount credited back to them. Virtual attendees will need to log in during the conference to be eligible to have their donation refunded and/or donated.

What is the price for registration?

Member Rates

  • AAEM Members: FREE with a $200 refundable deposit
  • RSA Members: FREE with a $100 refundable deposit

Non-Member Rates

  • Physician: $525
  • Resident: $160*
  • Medical Student (Student Free members): $140*
  • Allied Health Professionals: $200
  • Allied Health Professional In-Training: $60

*Residents and students will be automatically registered as AAEM/RSA members for the 2021-2022 membership year (pending eligibility).

What forms of payment are accepted for Registration?

AAEM accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, personal checks, or corporate checks. Cash will also be accepted onsite.

I can no longer attend during the “live” conference dates. Can I get a refund?

There is no penalty for switching from in-person registration to virtual registration or vice versa. Scientific Assembly content is available to members. Refund requests must be submitted in writing at least one month prior to the event. A $50 processing fee will be charged for in-person cancellations. A $25 processing fee will be charged for virtual cancellations. Refunds are processed after the conference. No refunds are granted if cancellation is received less than one month prior to the event. Special considerations will be given for health or family emergencies if requested in writing no later than 15 days after the last day of the conference.

What do registration fees include?

Registration for AAEM21 includes access to in-person, live-streamed, and recorded educational content and CME, award presentations, and competitions.

May I bring my child to a session/visit the exhibit hall?

AAEM welcomes and encourages families to travel with conference attendees. Due to the professional educational content and graphic nature of some photos, children are not permitted in the educational sessions or on the exhibit floor/poster gallery. We are pleased to offer a private mother’s room for nursing and pumping. The mothers’ room may be reserved in advance for time slots, see a friendly staff member at the conference registration desk for more information.

What are the COVID-19 safety protocols in place for this meeting?

AAEM is working to ensure the safety and well-being of attendees at Scientific Assembly. We look forward to everyone having an enjoyable, educational, and safe experience. In preparation, AAEM and the hotel will provide additional hand sanitizer stations throughout the venue. Entry into the queue lines for registration will be regulated to allow for physical distancing. You will find markers throughout the queue lines to help you maintain physical distancing. Physical distancing is strongly encouraged and floor decals throughout will help guests to gauge their distance.

What types of sessions are you offering?

Live – Live sessions with online discussion through the AAEM21 Mobile App. Join these sessions at the posted start times to view the live presentations and participate in the online discussion through the mobile app (AAEM Experience). Can't attend at the designated time? Live sessions will be recorded and posted for viewing the following day.

On Demand – Pre-recorded sessions will become available at the start of the conference. Each day's recorded sessions will also be available on demand the day following their presentations. For example, Monday's recorded sessions will be available on Tuesday.

Are you offering e-posters?

This opportunity is in discussion. An update will be provided soon.

Are you offering a virtual exhibit hall?

No. The in-person exhibit hall opens at 5:45pm CT on Sunday, June 20 and closes Tuesday, June 22 in the afternoon. Exhibitor information, including contact information, will be made available for anyone attending virtually that would like to schedule time to speak with the exhibitors.

Are you offering non-CME programs?

Yes, non-CME commercial presentations and promotional sessions are organized by industry and designed to enhance your conference experience. In-person attendees are invited to attend these sessions, which are scheduled over the lunch hour and or end of the day.

Where do I find the preliminary program?

With the need for versatile virtual learning, we have designed a flexible and diverse education program that includes both live and on demand sessions. You also will have numerous opportunities to engage and connect with your emergency medicine community.

When will abstracts be posted online?

Submissions for AAEM/JEM Resident and Student Research Competition, AAEM/RSA & Western Journal of Emergency Medicine, Photo, and YPS Research Competitions are now closed and proposals are being evaluated and ranked. Submitters will be notified of acceptance status in April, 2021.

How do I know what sessions I am registered for?

Scientific Assembly keynote, plenary, and concurrent sessions are open first-come, first- served and do not require advanced registration. Sessions requiring registration are noted during the registration process and summarized on your conference receipt. Such sessions include pre- and post-conference sessions, small group clinics (in-person only) and some networking/social event.

How do I add/change a session after I’ve registered?

If you would like to add a pre-conference, post-conference, or adjust the Small Group Clinic session, please contact AAEM at info@aaem.org or 800-884-2236.

How many CME/CE credits are available at the Annual Assembly?

The American Academy of Emergency Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 21.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Click here for the full credit designation statement.

How do I claim my CME/CE credits? 

CME certificates and Certificates of Attendance are available to Scientific Assembly attendees through a self-report system. You can access the self-report system with your members-only log in account to download, save or print your CME certificate or Certificate of Attendance. Please ensure you login to your members-only account and update your email address to ensure receipt of the broadcast email. In July, participants will also be able to request a certificate on the CME webpage.

Claim CME Onsite *NEW for AAEM21*

Pre-registered attendees can claim CME credits at Scientific Assembly on their mobile devices. Onsite registrants will receive a link via email to claim CME within 30 days after the conference. Don’t want to wait 30 days to claim CME? Register for AAEM21 online before June 18, 2021!

How do I upload and present my poster?

Specific information about how posters will be presented will be provided in an email in advance of the conference. In preparation for the conference, AAEM encourages you to ensure that your poster can be put in PDF format, and that you have a zoom account, as those details may be requested.

I am a speaker. How do I upload my slides and give my presentation?

The AAEM21 Call for Educational Proposals closed. Please see the Program page for this year’s educational content. There are still openings for onsite signup to speak at the Open Mic Competition. Learn more.

If you would like to speak at AAEM22, the Call for Educational Proposals portal will open in summer 2021.

However, the only process for registering for the conference is through https://www.aaem.org/aaem21/register and AAEM is the only authorized provider for the attendee mailing list. DO NOT REGISTER FOR THE CONFERENCE OR PURCHASE A LIST RENTAL WITH OTHER OPERATORS. AAEM does not accept responsibility for any losses that result from unofficial vendors or websites.

Beware of Fraudulent Registration Companies!

The official Scientific Assembly website is https://www.aaem.org/aaem21/ and you can only register for the Scientific Assembly through this link: https://www.aaem.org/aaem21/register. AAEM does not add additional fees to the standard registration rate, such as VAT or service fees. Prevent being the victim of Cybercrime – be suspicious of emails that appear to be coming from AAEM asking for additional payments. Fraudulent companies will often use email addresses or websites that contain “AAEM” in them such as AAEM@2021conference.com and info@21aaem.com. Do not reply to these companies.
